Mitch McConnell says he's focused on the future and stopping a 'totally-left wing administration from transforming America into something no one voted for' after Trump called him a 'dumb son of a b****'

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is taking the high road after former President Donald Trump ripped him as a 'dumb son of a b****' at a party fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago this past weekend.

The powerful Republican has so far stayed silent as after Trump insulted him to a top gathering of Republicans, then went after him again as someone was 'helpless' to fight Joe Biden's potential efforts to 'pack' the Supreme Court.

'What I’m concentrating on is the future and what we are confronted with here is a totally left-wing administration, with a slight majority in the House, a 50-50 Senate trying to transform America into something no one voted for last year,' Biden told reporters on Capitol Hill when asked about Trump's attacks.

'That’s what I’m concentrating on,' said McConnell.

Trump also went after McConnell's wife, Elaine Chao, who resigned as his Transportation secretary after the Jan. 6 riot.

'I hired his wife. Did he ever say thank you?' Trump said. 'She suffered so greatly,' he mocked, the Washington Post reported.

It was just the latest chapter in the feud between the two men – after McConnell accused Trump of having 'provoked' the January 6th MAGA riot that resulted in the death of five people.

Trump issued his latest attack on McConnell to Republican National Committee donors who gathered at his private club, where he once again revisited his unsubstantiated claim that he won the election, which he called a 'fraud.'

'If that were Schumer instead of this dumb son of a b**** Mitch McConnell, they would never allow it to happen. They would have fought it,' he said, the Washington Post reported.

Trump has said he will seek to primary Republicans who voted to impeach him, in a threat that could undermine McConnell's efforts to retake the Senate, which Republicans lost in two runoff elections.

Trump kept up the attacks in a written statement Monday – bringing up a looming judicial fight, on a subject that has been a central focus for McConnell for decades.

'With leaders like Mitch McConnell, they are helpless to fight. He didn’t fight for the Presidency, and he won’t fight for the Court,' Trump wrote.

Standing nearby McConnell when he spoke was Florida Sen. Rick Scott, who over the weekend presented Trump with a newly created award, the 'Champion for Freedom Award,' presenting him with a silver colored bowl.

The new award is for 'conservative leaders who have worked tirelessly to create good jobs, protect the values that make our country great, and stop the Democrats’ socialist agenda,' according to the National Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Senate Republicans are grappling with how to handle Trump, who is sitting on a multi-million war-chest built in part through his election fraud claims, and who would be a powerful force in 2022.

Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the Republican whip, said of the attacks on the party leader: 'I wish he wouldn’t do it but I don’t think there’s any way that you could change how he does things. I think we just have to adapt the best we can and stay focused on what are our objectives and that’s get the [Senate] majority back in 2022,' he said, the Hill reported.
