AOC: Nobody Would Be ‘Heartbroken’ To Lose Private Health Insurance

Democrats are still running hard on a single-payer health care platform that many experts say would end in disaster for the United States.
And if you ask New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez if she thinks Americans will sour at the prospect of losing their private health care insurance, she’ll say they will not.
According to The Blaze, the freshman lawmaker was questioned by Bloomberg reporter Sahil Kapur about the problems with moving toward a government-run health care system. Ocasio-Cortez said nobody in America would be “heartbroken” over losing their private insurance.
Shortly after, Ocasio-Cortez admitted that “people like their health care, they like their doctor. But I’d be interested in what the public polling on Aetna would look like.”
Available polling of those on private health care indicates that the plans are overwhelmingly popular.
CNN reported on a Gallup poll which showed that “85 percent of people who used private insurance said the quality of their health care was ‘excellent’ or ‘good,’ versus 79 percent of people on Medicare or Medicaid.”
Not only are Americans satisfied with their current plans; they also reject “Medicare for All,” as well. The Blaze reported that a Kaiser Family Foundation poll conducted in January showed that only 37 percent of Americans supported a “Medicare for All” plan after they were told their private plans would be eliminated.
Yet several Democratic presidential candidates, including Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, continue to push that plan. Sanders estimates that his version would cost America a staggering $40 trillion over a ten-year period.
He also thinks Americans will support paying more taxes to cover the outrageous price tag, claiming the public “would be delighted to pay more in taxes, if they had comprehensive healthcare as a human right.”
Wrong, Bernie.
Remember when we gave Democrats the chance to reform health care under former President Barack Obama’s administration? On paper, the Affordable Care Act was interesting enough to get passed, but as we all know, it ended in utter disaster.
If democratic socialists like Ocasio-Cortezand Sanders are somehow able to implement “Medicare for All,” we will long for the days of Obamacare. And that’s saying something.
Democrats must learn that healthcare is just like any other industry — it thrives when it’s under private control. The free market forces providers to compete with other companies to offer the best deals and highest quality. It also creates an untold number of jobs, which in turn helps boost the economy.
But Democrats don’t care about the positive effects of privately controlled healthcare.
They care about power.
And they care about control.
