Radical Nurse’s Union on Shooting Death of Anti-ICE Activist: “Pretti’s death will not be in vain. ICE messed with the wrong profession. We nurses will fight to abolish ICE”

National Nurses United, a union of nursing professionals that claims over 225,000 members, announced a campaign to abolish ICE in tribute to Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse shot to death by CBP agents in Minneapolis on Saturday while interfering with an operation attempting the arrest of criminal illegal alien.

The union said in a statement Monday, “Pretti’s death will not be in vain. ICE messed with the wrong profession. We nurses will fight to abolish ICE.”

A ‘week of action’ by nursing professionals is being promoted by the union:

Week of action in honor of Alex Pretti, RN and all others killed by ice

It’s happened. Federal immigration agents have murdered one of our own, ICU registered nurse Alex Pretti, who saved veterans’ lives at the Minneapolis VA. Pretti upheld his oath to advocate for and protect his patients and community to the very end as a peaceful, public legal observer of ICE atrocities.

Join National Nurses United RN members in a week-long series of actions to honor Pretti and all who have been murdered by ICE, as well as demand that Congress vote to immediately abolish this violent, racist, and lawless agency that poses a dire public health threat to all of our communities.

Pretti’s death will not be in vain. ICE messed with the wrong profession. We nurses will fight to abolish ICE and bring about a vision for a healthy society based on nurses’ values of caring, compassion, and community.

Events in several states and the District of Columbia are listed at the union’s website.

Pretti went armed with a concealed handgun and backup ammo on Saturday to counter a federal immigration enforcement action. Why a nurse who served at the Minneapolis VA hospital caring for veterans would come prepared to engage in a gun battle with the feds is an open question.

Another open question is the radicalization of the nursing profession to the point that nurses are engaging in or encouraging others to engage in violent anti-government behavior.

Libs of TikTok has been documenting nurses posting videos wishing harm on federal government workers.

National Nurses United has posted advice and resources (at link) on how to block ICE at hospitals:

The Trump Administration has changed the rules, no longer designating hospitals, as well as schools and churches, as “sensitive areas,” free from immigration enforcement. Nurses make a vow to care for all people, and we know hospitals should remain places of healing, where all people can receive care, without fear. Armed, masked ICE agents are standing in the way of nurses effectively caring for patients – the resources on this page will aid nurses in advocating for all patients regardless of immigration status.

The union is also encouraging its members to contact Congress to abolish ICE, using aggressive language and imagery:
